During Term 4, five primary schools within Victoria's northern region were invited to a pilot program to introduce the new AFL9s to their grade 5 and 6 students. Over 80 men, women and children took to Metricon Stadium to help celebrate the Gold Coast hosting the 2012 NAB AFL Draft.   As part of the festivities local Queensland businesses and media took part in the inaugural Cadbury AFL 9s Corporate Challenge, with teams playing each other in a round robin format.
